The Thistles, built in 1888, is one of 45 architecturally and historically significant, Victorian era summer "cottages" that make up the Dublin Summer colony which was developed on mutual interests of arts and literature, with many notable figures in American literary, political and artistic life, summering there. Sited for maximum privacy on 20+/- acres, a tree-lined drive accesses the 5,471 square-foot shingle-style Victorian, designed by noted English born architect Henry Vaughan, who also collaborated on several New Hampshire projects with Francis Searles.
